She is also a Yoga Alliance Registered and Accredited Mindfulness Meditation and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher.
Cath was taught to teach Hatha Yoga by Velta Wilson - an inspirational person and teacher and a founder member of the British Wheel of Yoga. Her sessions always begin with some moments of focusing on the breath and body, before warming, limbering and stretching in readiness for the practise of asana (postures). Once in posture, you usually stay there for a certain number of breaths, to really allow the body to feel and benefit from the stretch.
Cath incorporates yoga sequences and mindful movement into her sessions - as well as pranayama (yoga breathing techniques) and some meditation on the body and breath. Sessions always finish with 15 minutes of guided relaxation.
Cath’s pledge as a yoga teacher is to help every participant to work safely within his/her limits and to encourage a changing relationship to the body breath and mind, where you bring your awareness to how you really feel in the moment.
There are no prerequisites in order to start coming to sessions. You don’t need to be vegetarian, tee-total or non-smoking!! Yoga starts with you, exactly as you are. That’s when the adventure begins. Yoga is available to all of us.
